Brief summary of the item: 2.5L V6 Mondeo with manufacturer body kit, alloys, extra toys and better seats. The Mondeo has been the choice of millions of reps for decades, and with good reason. They are, as the Parker's review says "poised and responsive, rewarding to drive" but the V6 engine transforms the car. It sounds awesome, drives more smoothly than the 4-pots, and obviously has more power at 170BHP. You also get traction control, half-leather seats, electric windows all round and electric mirrors, remote control for the ICE, heated windscreen, electric seats, ABS, remote central locking, air con. Also, climate control and a trip computer on some models. Good Points: Great to drive. Always wants more around the corners and on the straights, the V6 sounds absolutely glorious at high revs so you'll never need the stereo ;) The combination of mesh grille and RSA body kit looks the badgers' nadgers even after all these years. Passenger comfort is excellent, loads of leg room and footwell lights if you go to a motor factor and spend 67p on the bulbs. The boot is normal Mondeo, so you CAN fit 3metre copper piping and full sheets of plasterboard in it. You just have to be scrawny, like me. It's easy to find a good driving position and visibility aint too bad at all! The seats are great, I've driven for 6 hours straight and not even felt stiff. Bad Points: THIRSTY. Mine does 26mpg normally, 19 at worst and 36 on the motorway. Yours might vary. Also it's only 170BHP so a bit weedy for a 2.5L, I would expect closer to 240. The Duratec engine is also known for eating water pumps and head gaskets, but at least it has a timing chain, so you don't have to worry about snapping cam belts. Usual other Mondy complaints about the lower suspension arm bushes, so get Powerflex bushes fitted if you can. Central locking is also rubbish, with common complaints about the front passenger lockmech sticking. My 81 year old dad has trouble getting out, as the seats are a bit low for him. General Comments: Apparently not the most easily tuned engine which is disappointing, and my engine bay is crammed with air con piping making a turbo a difficult prospect. Lots of users at fordmondeo.org have successfully shoehorned superchargers and turbos in there though, so if you've got the dollars you can do what you want. And that's another thing...there are millions of Mondeo drivers out there, so forums, help and documentation are not hard to find. Parts are cheap too. The handling is okay, the car looks like it might understeer and hell yes, it definitely does. On the other hand, Corsa Chavs (and even some Golf drivers) don't expect to get annihilated by a Mundano on the dual carraigeways and that can be comical. I think the Ford standard 'Turbine' alloys look a bit David-Hasslehoff (see pic) but I have a set of TSW Freeze rims on mine, and they look spectacular. User reviews
