Relevant Information: Also known as i-mate JASJAR, O2 XDA Exec and T-Mobile MDA IV . Brief summary of the item: A complete 'portable office' pda phone made by htc. Good Points: - Huge range of uses Qwerty keyboard Large bright screen 2 cameras - 1 x 1.3 megapixel camera and 1 x vga camera for 3G video calling Bad Points: - Very bulky: 131 x 79 x 21 mm and weighs 285g Runs quite slow Battery life General Comments: This is another Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC made by HTC. Initial impression is it is nice, very nice. It has a lift up screen that reveals a qwerty keyboard with a red light sensitive backlight. The lid can be folded over to hide this and just keep the screen showing, like a baby tablet pc. Out of the box you get the usual: - QTEK 9000 Pocket PC - AC Mains Charger - Usb Sync Cable - Quick Start guide - Full user manual - Getting Started CD including Activesync & Outlook - Leather case The device is really easy to use. In fact anybody who can use a computer can use this, thanks to the functionally of Windows Mobile 5. It has a 520mhz processor, but in reality I didn't find this that fast. When using it the device seems to slow down quite a lot, needing a soft reset to bring it back upto speed. When using it I find it much slower than the HTC TyTN which only has a 400mhz processor. It is however filled to the brim with functionality and these are some of the highlights: - Supports UMTS and GSM networks and - Supports 3G Video Calling (network dependent) - WiFi, Bluetooth and Infrared support - Polythonic, MP3 and AAc ringtones - MSN Mobile pre-installed (IM Chat client) - SDIO/MMC slot - Mobile Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) - Mini USB and standard headphones ports As a mobile office this is an ideal device. You can update your Word/Excel documents, check your email and sync your calender with the office using Pocket Outlook. As a mobile phone it is quite frankly far too bulky to be practical. The battery life is supposedly 260 hours in standby and 8 hours talktime. In reality I seemed to be charging it every day, although I did use the WiFi and bluetooth quite a bit. The WiFi does have a nasty habit of disconnecting itself on regular occasions, when this happens it can take 30 seconds to reconnect. The loudspeaker is actually not all that loud. You certainly wouldn't be able to use it when making calls. Unlike most mobile devices, this has a mini usb port for charging AND a standard headphone socket. This is made possible due to the sheer size of the device, but is a very nice touch. It means it is possible to connect a set of headphones and listen to your mp3's while charging the device or synching with your computer. This is not possible with a lot of mobile devices. Overall I would recommend this device to anybody who wants a complete mobile office, but it is not really a practical mobile phone. This is due to its size and cost (around £400).
