Relevant Information: Author: Lionel Shriver Brief summary of the item: A story told through letters, from Eva to her husband, discussing how and why their son ended up being responsible for a high school shooting shortly before his 16th birthday. Good Points: I found myself really questioning the nature vs. nurture debate when Eva talks about Kevin's personality. I wanted to find out what he did next, what the response was and how it was all going to end. Although you know it's about a high-school shooting, you don't find out anything in detail until near the end, though little hints are dropped along the way. I also found myself being frustrated at both Eva and her husband at various points, and if a book can inspire those feelings, i always think it's a good thing - as long as it is intentional, which in this case it was! Bad Points: I found the beginning dragged - I didn't care about how Eva had met her husband, I wanted to find out about Kevin. General Comments: Once i got into the story, i really enjoyed it. Although it seems that Kevin has all the traits of a psychopath, that term is never used in the story and we are left to our own conclusions about why he is the way he is. User reviews
